Project period: 2023-2024
Financial support: 4EU+
Project description: Despite progress in reducing its health and economic impacts, air pollution remains a significant burden in Europe. The project aims to introduce this novel topic into the 4EU+ Alliance, focusing on education, research, and innovation. The main objective of DFIELD is to design innovative field experiments that advance the understanding of air pollution information collection and disclosure. By doing so, the project aims to familiarize 4EU+ students with new methodologies, assist policymakers, businesses, and citizens in utilizing new air pollution information technologies to improve health and economic outcomes, and guide technology developers in creating more impactful devices and applications. The project will contribute to society's understanding of how information can be effectively used to reduce air pollution damages and steer technological innovation in this direction. By combining insights from environmental and behavioral social sciences with technological advancements, DFIELD seeks to lower exposure and damages caused by air pollution, particularly among at-risk populations.
