Project description
International project People-Centred Development Approaches in Practical and Learning Environments (PEOPLE) focuses on the mismatch between qualifications gained by humanities and social science students (in particular anthropology, psychology, and sociology) and skills expected from graduates by employers in industry.
In each of the four countries participating in this three-year project (Slovenia, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Czech Republic), an alliance was formed between a higher education or research institution and an industry partner from the energy efficiency and sustainable energy sectors.
The main goal of the project is the development, implementation, and evaluation of a new model of knowledge transfer between higher education and industry. Interdisciplinary teams of students formed in the PEOPLE project will use different people-centred development approaches to test and improve existing products or services and to seek new development solutions for the industry.

Project goals in the Centre
The main goal of the Czech case study is to propose and test the efficiency of behavioral instruments for the reduction of energy and water use in public buildings and their incorporation in applied energy management measures. To select potentially efficient measures we apply social science theories of individual behaviors and test their transferability to the conditions of selected public buildings in the Czech Republic. The efficiency of behavioral interventions will be evaluated by means of statistical inference methods. Students will fully participate in the entire process of evaluation of efficiency of the behavioral measures and the formulation of recommendations for building managers.
