Spatially Explicit & Plural Valuation for Just Biodiversity Policy
SPValues aims to develop better understanding of spatial drivers of public values for biodiversity change and consider environmental justice in the analyses of these values for policy support.
Project period: 01/2025-12/2028
Financial support: Charles University PRIMUS programme: https://cuni.cz/UKEN-558.html
Project description: The SPValues project aims to enhance understanding of biodiversity-related values. It will develop a spatially explicit stated preference approach, integrated with alternative value indicators, while examining distributional and procedural justice in the valuation. The project will identify where biodiversity interventions can deliver the greatest benefits, how the outcomes of these interventions are distributed, and the spatial trade-offs among different values. Expected outcomes will inform both national and international policy, particularly the recently adopted Global Biodiversity Framework. The project aims to advance the economic and plural valuation of biodiversity, providing crucial data to shape future environmental strategies and enhance policy analysis tools.
