The project is investigating the climate-based health risks of pathogens in our coastal waters. Climate change and environmental pollution could be making waterborne pathogens (such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites) more dangerous in ways that we don’t yet fully understand. Funded by the European Union and UK Research and Innovation, BlueAdapt will investigate how climate change is enabling coastal pathogens to evolve and multiply, how people’s health could be at risk, and the most effective ways to adapt through policy changes and innovation.
