Project description

As a first research project of this kind, it conducts a comprehensive study into the issue of cycling infrastructure. The entire project emphasises availability of information as a significant element.  Foundation of an information portal focused on the research project shall strengthen the position of cycling within the entire transportation system. The research project shall become not only a significant background for fulfilment of the National Strategy for Cycling Infrastructure Development in the Czech Republic, which is part of the forthcoming New Transport Policy, but as well an indispensable on-line library of knowledge of the cycling transport field.

The role of the Charles University Environment Center consists in executing the cost benefit analysis of cycling infrastructure in a selected conurbation that will be preceded by a sociological survey on the residents’ transport behaviour. Furthermore, the Centre is responsible for conducting a study on the possible funding for cycling infrastructure construction in the Czech Republic.
